Consider anesthesia drugs
The "truth serum" may not be scopalamine exactly, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist. The fact that it is very difficult to remember what happened makes this drug very hard to quantify. And yes, surely, intellegence agencies must know about these drugs. Whether they use them or not is another matter. The information given while under the influence of these drugs must be taken with a grain of salt, but it doesn't mean it's worthless. However, considering we have powerful anesthesias that are administered every day to those getting operated on, and they are not asleep, can feel nothing and remember nothing would it really be suprising that there was a drug that encourages one tell the truth and not remember doing so?

It always pays to be careful. On the one hand, there is some nasty stuff out there. On the other hand, it is hard to accurately assess the real-life threat. One of the ways we demonize the other is as a source of dangerous contamination in our food and drink, symbolized, for example, by separate water fountains. And such fears can feed on themselves in a cycle of moral panic. I guess the aim should be a kind of wise caution.

Even if this stuff doesn't exist or work as it is proclaimed to, just hearing about it should make a person look at things a little differently.
I do know there are real drugs that will make you put that lamp shade on your head !

I am not persuaded. Perhaps there is a chemical like this, but I have never heard of it, and it's not scopolamine. Perhaps the chemical you are thinking of, which has made us all docile and stupid, is called television. :-)

Organic roofies! Cool!

ACTUALLY, this smacketh not of Urban Legend to me.

The effects of Burandanga lead to a fine theory of what must be in the US chemtrails, a reason why it's citizens have become viscidly docile and stupid as if at once, on command.

Some ATM'S are at 500-700 Daily. However, I think some of these stories are fabricated to cover some people's personal endaevaors that didn't quite turn out right. And blaming a "drug" of uncertain origin. Though Scopalamine can be a nasty. i have never seen too many cases of it's use. Work a Helpline Center... Seen a lot of OD'S, not this however...

Plus, there is a daily limit on ATM withdrawals. $300.00 I think. This all reeks of Urban Legend.
