Hey there, the film will be premiering at the SXSW film fest (official selection!) in Austin this March 13 (2010), Dr. Shulgin will be there along with Ann. Bob Sager, the DEA agent who was instrumental as a friend over Dr. Shulgin’s career, (and who features in the film) will also be there. Hello – Just an update for the folks here. I found this page by accident when searching for more info on the film.

I’ve been in contact with the director, Etienne, and he kindly told me they will be making an announcement on the film’s release very soon. He said to check back at the new website (URL below) in a couple of weeks.

Thanks for sharing the origins of the name Dirty Pictures. Nice to hear such stories about the great man. Cant wait to see the film.

The reason for the name ‘Dirty Picture’ is obvious to those of us who have known Sasha for many years. I can remember my first meeting with Sasha in spring of 1970 at the Mediterranean coffee house on Telegraph Ave in Berkeley. Sasha was interested in a lichen that grew in Oregon where I was in Grad school in Botany. He said that with this lichen and lemon peel he could make THC in two steps, and easy reaction. He said ‘Let me draw you the dirty pictures’ and by that he meant the chemical formulas.
